Czech – Korean CNG Forum

The Czech-Korean CNG forum was held in the Prague Congress Centre on 5 November 2013 under the auspices of Jiří Cienciala, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, and Yeon Jae Park, the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Korea.

The event was held by the Korea Trade – Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in cooperation with the Korean Institute of Machinery and Materials (KEITI) and the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea, and its aim was to specify in detail the development and perspectives of CNG from various perspectives regarding the use of gas in the transport industry.

The forum provided the opportunity to introduce CNG technologies in the area of transport to both Korean and Czech companies. Representatives of Korean companies, for example KwangShin Machine Ind. Co. Ltd., Engine Tech Co. Ltd., HYOSUNG Corporation, Exion Co. Ltd., and World Power Tech, spoke on the topic of alternative drives, transport infrastructure and reduction of emissions; and provided examples of application of alternative drives in the transport industry. Karol Suchár, CNG sales manager of MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská, presented the production portfolio of CNG technologies, experience with innovations in the area of environmental transport and financial benefits. The company is part of MOTOR JIKOV GROUP, a holding in which CNG vehicles make up 50 % of the company fleet and annual savings reach almost 2 million CZK.

The second part of the forum was devoted to bilateral discussions about possible cooperation between KwangShin Machine Ind. Co. Ltd. represented by Harry Kwon, President and Executive Director, and MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská represented by Karol Suchár. Attendants of the forum agreed that this event contributed to increase of the awareness of CNG use in the area of transport and improved the possibilities of cooperation and exchange of experience between both countries to help curb climate change.
