What is the main advantage of CNG?
CNG is the cheapest fuel currently available on market. Due to a guaranteed minimal consumer tax the latest petrol engines converted to CNG achieve a cost of 1 CZK/km.

Where to buy CNG vehicles?
CNG vehicles can be ordered directly from selected distributors of prestigious brands manufacturing this type of drive. Warranty and service are the same as for conventional vehicles.

Can petrol or diesel vehicles be converted to CNG and where?
It is no problem with petrol vehicles, there are many companies active in this area in the Czech Republic. MOTOR JIKOV has a partnership with AutoGas Centrum Strakonice www.lpg-autogascentrum.cz and Aquacentrum Praha www.aqcentrum.cz. Converted vehicles can be also imported from abroad. The conversion cost of a passenger car starts at CZK 30,000. Pressure vessels are installed in the vehicle, usually in the boot area and the fuel system is equipped with valves and components supplying CNG to the engine. Conversions of diesel engines are technically demanding and expensive, they are not done for passenger cars.

How CNG vehicles differ from conventional vehicles?
CNG vehicles provide the same comfort as petrol or diesel vehicles. The purchase price is comparable, of course depending on accessories and other technical details.

Are CNG vehicles safe?

The number of vehicles using compressed natural gas keeps growing. There are currently available 41 public CNG filling stations in the Czech Republic (as of 1 September 2012) and other are built. Actual list to be found here.

You can refill your CNG vehicle also at home in your garage using a compact vehicle refuelling appliance. It is a compressor connected to standard household gas connection. Several vehicles can be filled in the same time. Filling is usually done overnight or during journey breaks. List of compact vehicle refuelling appliances produced by MOTOR JIKOV to be find here – www.jikovcng.com/en/products/.

What will happen when CNG vehicle runs off gas?
CNG vehicles are so-called dual-fuel, if they run off gas, they automatically switch over to gasoline. Arrival distance of CNG vehicles is usually from 300 to 450 km depending on consumption and size of tanks. E.g. vehicles with turbocharged engine Volkswagen 1.4 TSI EcoFuel achieve the power of 150 kW, torque of 220 Nm, CO2 emissions 119 g/km and with cost of 1CZK / 1 km the arrival distance is 460 km, further they use gasoline with the cost of 2.50 CZK/km.

What emission standards does the operation of CNG vehicles meet?
No additives are added to CNG therefore no carcinogenic substances are produced when burned. CNG meets the strictest ecological requirements, the Euro V and Euro VI standards.

CNG vehicles are produced in all categories – passenger cars, vans, trucks and buses. The current offer of vehicles is increasing, for a full list see here.

Is there any tax liability for businesses using CNG vehicles?
There is zero road tax for CNG vehicles. From
1 January 2012 there is a duty to declare and pay consumer tax on natural gas used for CNG vehicles.

Development of CNG consumer tax in the Czech Republic:

Period Tax (CZK / t) CZK / m³
2007 – 2011 0 0,00
2012 – 2014 500 0,357
2015 – 2016 1 000 0,714
2017 – 2019 2 000 1,429
from 2020 3 355 2,350

The duty to declare CNG consumer tax is monthly and valid for both physical and legal entities. Tax duty does not apply to vehicles intended for use off of public roads or on vehicles, which are not approved to be used mostly on public roads, i.e. most fork-lift trucks.
For consumer tax deduction it is necessary to an approved gauge. MOTOR JIKOV Strojírenská uses approved and calibrated gauges in its applications (assessment of compliance with Metrology Law 505/1990 Coll. by the Czech Metrology Institute, regular calibration according to type every 10 years, or 4 years – see Decree 345/2002)
Inspection is carried out by the Customs of the Czech Republic. Sealing of gauges is not assumed.
